Built from 1982 to 1991, the Porsche 944 was initially developed as
the 924 as a joint venture with VW to produce a more affordable
sports car model that would be priced less than the 911. After some
struggles with the VW agreements, the 924 was introduced in 1976.
Despite the Porsche branding, the underpowered VW engine meant the
924 was never too popular. Porsche re-worked the engine and the
platform to create the much improved 944. It was better equipped,
more refined and handled better than its earlier version. In 1985,
the 944 was updated with a new dashboard and many other safety and
performance changes. It had finally become a sports car worthy of
the Porsche crest.

the pleasure of laying our eyes on. This 1985 example, finished in
classic Porsche Alpine white, has had just ONE owner since new.
This car has done just 22,202 miles since new! It is in perfect
shape. It was definitely garaged as the paint is perfect and has no
peeling and the interior is likewise in great shape. This car is
equipped with the full leather interior option and is perfect. No
cracks, no stains, no rips, just as nice as it would have come out
of the factory. The car has all of the original documents and books
including the original build sheet that described the original
sale. The car had a price of $28,299 and had nearly $6,000 in
options including 15in Fuchs wheels, Monterey digital cassette
radio, limited slip dif, sport seats, electric sunroof, cruise
control and the aforementioned full leather interior. Other
features included power windows, power steering, air conditioning,
tinted glass, intermittent wipers, anti-theft device and heated
power mirrors.
The car is equipped with the standard 2.5L 4-cylinder with the
5-speed manual. It runs beautifully, with crisp shifts and an
engine that is willing to rev. While far from fast, this is still
an extremely fun car to drive. Whether you want a classic 944 that
