1992 Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen in Tacoma, Washington

Vehicle Description

1992 Mercedes Benz 300 GE - G-Wagpn.  Beautiful and original condition Mercedes G Wagon in original wine red with grey cloth interior and using the V6 gas powered engine.  This G-Wagon is considered the “long base” as it is a four-door model.  Beautifully maintained at the pre-eminent Tokyo Mercedes Dealership it has extremely low mileage (only 58,000 kilometers - 36,000 miles) and is absolutely perfect.  You’d be hard pressed to find a more beautifully maintained G-Wagon (whether left or right-hand drive) anywhere in the U.S.  Rated a 4 at the Japanese auction it is still beyond me why this was not rated a 5.  A/C works perfectly (as do all electrics), electric sunroof, original Technic’s stereo (with Panasonic 6 disc changer), excellent tires and paint and perfect interior (including the rare option of the folding rear jump seats).

•       1992 Right Hand Drive G Wagon or Galendawagen

•       Legally Imported

•       58,000 verified kilometers (or 37K miles) and service records from the preeminent Mercedes Benz dealership/importer in Tokyo (Yanase).

•       The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran (at the time a significant Mercedes shareholder) to Mercedes[4] and offered as a civilian version in 1979;

•       Super Clean.  Unique garnet red metallic paint with little flaws, plenty of evidence of care and cleanliness;

•       Grey interior is impeccable with no tears in the seats, clean headliner, and clean carpets;

•       It was rated 4 at auction and purchased because of its extensive and documented service history at the Mercedes Benz dealership in Tokyo;

•       Untouched 15-piece tool set with emergency road flares and emergency kit;

•       Full books (owner’s manuals in leather pouch) and service records;

•       Functioning air conditioning system, power sunroof, windows, locks;

•       Service includes MB battery and windshield wipers.

•       Vehicle has three locking differentials (front, center, and rear and are working).

•       The 3.0L inline six runs like new and is quite gutsy for this 5,700-lb beast. Engine does not have a timing belt;

•       The transmission and transfer case work as they should;

•       The vehicle has 5 Michelin tires with plenty of tread on

•       It has mud flaps, headlight guards, rear jump seats, a car cover, a CD changer, and an extra vinyl MB spare tire cover.

•       No evidence of smoking;

•       No evidence of repaint, body repair, or accidents.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, sometimes called G-Wagen (short for Geländewagen, "cross country vehicle"), is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. In certain markets, it has been sold under the Puch name as Puch G. The G-wagen is characterized by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. Despite the introduction of an intended replacement, the unibody SUV Mercedes-Benz GL-Classin 2006, the G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history, with a span of 35 years. Only the Unimogsurpasses it.

The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran (at the time a significant Mercedes shareholder) to Mercedes and offered as a civilian version in 1979. In this role it is sometimes referred to as the "Wolf". The Peugeot P4 was a variant made under license in France with a Peugeot engine.

It was not available from Mercedes-Benz in the United States until 2002, although this was preceded by a grey-market where even basic models commanded six-figure prices in the 1990s. It was launched in 2002 as the Mercedes-Benz G500 with a V-8 petrol engine and achieved 3114 sales that year. This eventually tapered down to some sub-1000 sales years, however, in the 2010s sales began to increase again surpassing 3000 in 2014 and in 2015 it sold more than in its launch year, with 3616 sold that year. In 2016 this increased to 3950 in the United States. Canada saw a similar increase, which, although is a smaller market saw sales increase from 127 in 2012 to over 400 in 2016.[5
