The Ford Ranchero was a light duty car based pickup that was
produced from 1957 to 1979. Based on the new Torino, the fourth
generation model was the largest Ranchero yet. The car based pickup
style became very popular in Australian and these style of vehicles
flew off the production lines. The Ranchero GT was the top of the
line model and featured the same trim as the corresponding Torino
and was available with a range of powerful V8 engines up to the
428cid "Cobra Jet" engine. A level of performance upgrades were
offered and the Ranchero was a force to be reckoned with.

1971 Ford Ranchero GT. Finished in a stunning shade of Grabber
Yellow and featuring the optional Two-tone hood as well as the
Ginger Spectrum stripe, this is a real looker. Highly equipped,
this vehicle came with a black vinyl roof, special value package,
power steering, power front disc brakes, ram air hood, air
conditioning, AM radio, headrests, color matched mirrors, dark
tinted windows, HD battery, HD suspension and a tachometer. Fitted
with the 351cid Cleveland V8 and the C-6 Select-Shift automatic
transmission running through a 3.0 conventional rear end, this
Ranchero packs a bit of a punch too.
Coming out ot Texas, this vehicle is in great shape with solid
paint work and graphics that isn't faded and shiny bright work. The
engine starts right away and will pull strongly through a smooth
shifting automatic. The interior is likewise in excellent shape
apart from a small crack in the dashboard. All instruments appear
to be functional and the radio and heater work well.
It's a wonder why these vehicles never caught on more. Providing
the performance and style of a muscle car with the utility of a
light pickup truck, the Aussies really knew what a gem these
were.
