Vehicle Description
Wearing what appears to be its factory original color, this
end-of-the-run, late-production, Version II, hard-window 912 wants
to be driven some more! The car seems to be highly original, though
a few minor embellishments from a previous owner include stickers
from Willow Springs raceway 1969, as well as various Porsche Club
of America stickers showing this cars heritage as a drivers car. To
add to that heritage, the VIN suggests that this car was produced
at the tail end of the production run of 912 Targas produced. This
is a California car - sold new in California and never saw any of
the "rust belt's" winters. This is a car that our General Manager
has 'known' for approximately 25 years.
The body is solid, and looks to have been repainted in the factory
original color many years ago. One area that is many times a bit of
an issue with the Targas is the window and Targa top seals which
are in very good condition for their age on our car. (As shown in
photos) There are a few bubbles on the fenders directly beneath the
headlights, lower window trim at the back window, and a few chips
in the paint throughout - but all the "imperfections" don't change
the fact that this is a great classic Porsche to drive!
The black interior shows wear but is lacking any rips or broken
seams. The dash is not cracked, the gauges are mostly clear, and
the wheel and shifter are in tact. The boxer four-cylinder engine
runs well, appears to be original/matching, and has Weber Carbs
added for a little extra snappiness. Overall this car is quite
presentable, and is in good condition, needing nothing major, but
perhaps some attention to the finer details. This car should be of
interest to collectors, Porsche enthusiasts, and anyone looking to
drive a real classic Porsche without quite as large a premium.
