Up for sale we have a 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. This car was
frame off restored and is easily one of the nicest convertibles on
the market, and it has the hardware to prove it. In 2006, it was a
Senior AACA National winner and in 2008 it was an AACA Grand
National First Prize Winner. In the paragraphs to follow we will
give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and heartbeat
of the Chevy, but first we would like to tell you a little about
us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee.
We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no
consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You
can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a
big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So,
that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us
for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at
(865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of this Bel Air. Down the sides
are laser straight with both doors, hood, and trunk all having a
phenomenal fit, and all the gaps are excellent. This '55 is done in
the Shoreline Beige and Gypsy Red two tone paint scheme which is
the factory combination. The paint has a gorgeous finish that's
been buffed and polished to a deep rich shine that's slick as a
ribbon. The convertible top is done in tan and was replaced at the
time of the restoration. Also, it's a Power Top that had the pump
and cylinders redone. All the chrome is in like new condition, and
it even sports the continental kit. The stainless is also all in
excellent condition. Looking at the glass it appears to have bene
replaced and is like new along with the seals, gaskets, and weather
stripping. To finish off the look it's sitting on a set of factory
style 15" Steel wheels with Wide White Tires and Full-Size
Caps.
Next, we will move to the interior of this Convertible. On the
inside, it's done in the Red and Beige two-tone scheme which is
also the factory color combination. The seat covers were replaced
and all the padding seems to have been replaced as well. Matching
door panels also appear replaced and are still like new. The carpet
was also installed new and remains in excellent condition. Looking
at the dash it's painted in body color and looks phenomenal. All
the gauges are working along with the in-dash lights and signals.
This Bel Air retains the factory style radio that is working along
with the horn. In the trunk, all the jams look great along with the
weather stripping, and it also has the trunk mat and bumper
jack.
Finally, we will get to the heartbeat of this Chevrolet. Under the
hood it's powered by '55 model 265 that's set up with the '55 model
Four Barrel Intake that has the factory style Rochester Carb.
You'll also notice the rare early model four-barrel Round Air
Cleaner as well as the Intake Mounted Oil Canister. The 265 is
mated to the Power Glide Transmission and Stock Style Rear End with
3.55 gears. For exhaust, it has manifolds with what looks like
original style dual exhaust. This Bel Air comes with Power
Steering, Power Brakes, and electric wipers. The brakes lines were
replaced along with the fuel lines and gas tank. The front end was
also rebuilt from the ball joints to the bushings. When it was
taken off the frame for restoration the frame was detailed in
black, and the floors were done in red oxide and then the body
color was sprayed under the sides to give it that factory look.
When set back on the frame new bushings were installed.
