Auto Works as a correctly restored original Boss 429. It is
finished in Royal Maroon and is a matching numbers original car. It
is presented with the original window sticker showing a price of
$4,964.51, broadcast sheet, owner's card, original owner's manual,
warranty book, and restoration pictures. It has a functional front
spoiler, trunk mounted battery and raised white letter tires. It
has had single ownership since 1976 and was in storage for 33 years
prior to receiving a ground up restoration. It was a no-rust in car
wearing its original sheet metal, mostly original interior and
original like new dash and door panels. New carpet and seat covers
were installed using all OEM material. The suspension is original
with exception of shocks and tires. This is a matching numbers Boss
429 with matching numbers transmission and rear end housing. It has
the original carburetor and fuel pump. The car still retains its
original one-year only front disc rotors. It is powered by a 429
CID 4V Cobra Jet HO 375 horsepower Ram Air engine with high back
bucket seats, Traction Lock Differential, F60x15 wide oval belted
black sidewall tires with white letters, center console, power
steering, power front disc brakes, interior Decor Group and Deluxe
AM Radio, Deluxe Belts and warning light. It also has Color Keyed
Racing Mirrors and Competition Suspension. Ford launched the BOSS
429 V8 in 1969 and it was built as a limited production Mustang
Fastback to meet the required homologation of 500 units. Ford
prepared the 429 for inclusion into NASCARs Grand National Division
where they modified a version Ford's big block V8 design known as
the Ford 385 engine and changed the stroke from 3.85 inches to
3.59. Power was legally rated to 375 horsepower although 500
horsepower was possible. To meet emissions regulations, a mild cam
was fitted along with a smog pump and small carburetor. With a few
modifications, up to 600 horsepower possible. Since the new engine
was too large to fit in standard Mustang body, KarKraft was hired
to modify the front-end of the car into a standard Sportsroof SCJ
body. They took a 428 Mach 1 and changed the inner fenders,
widening the shock towers, to made additional space. Also included
in Boss Package was the fender decals, manually-controlled hood
scoop, a front spoiler and dual racing mirrors. This is an
exceptional example of a high-performance Ford Mustang Boss 429
that has received a quality restoration and is ready for go or
show!
