Vehicle Description
When the Mach 1 model line was introduced in 1969, Ford announced
it was going to follow in the footsteps of the discontinued Shelby
Mustangs. Seven different V-8's were offered, "SportsRoof"
(fastback) body style, matte black hood with hood pins, hood scoop,
suspension upgrade, spoilers front and back, and rear window
louvers (SportSlats).
The 1973 second series Mach 1 offered for auction most noticeable
feature is its audacious fastback. A feature proudly displayed in
such films as the original Eleanor in the original GONE IN 60
SECONDS and James Bond's DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER.
It is powered by an H-Code 351 Cleveland V-8 with a 2-barrel
Autolite 2100 carb.
This combination puts out 177 hp and 284 lb ft or torque connected
to a 3 speed automatic. Power steering points the way
It is painted red with the distinctive black striping that includes
a black "Ram Air" hood design. The interior is black with vinyl
