Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this unique example of the
1930 Ford Pickup Roadster for your consideration. Henry Ford spent
most his first years fighting off the idea of changing the Model T
which produced and sold over 15 million models before his son,
Edsel, finally convinced him that some new features and comforts
were necessary. On May 25th, 1927, Ford announced the shutdown of
the plant and production of the Model A and began retooling the
entire factory to begin its new and improved version, the Model A.
They completed this process in almost 6 months and had cars pumping
out quickly which was only possible due to Edsel secretly
marshaling the design and sketch team to begin working on the new
model prior to Henry ever even approving such a change. Although
many have come to appreciate the original designs, even more have
enjoyed customizing these antiques into more modern and drivable
rides such as this example you see today.
With its very rare combination of convertible meets truck meets hot
rod, this is a real show car with all the appeal to the masses as
it is something you do not see every day! The overall build is well
completed with its power coming from its 351 Windsor engine and
mated to a smooth shifting C-4 automatic transmission. The engine
was torn down and rebuilt roughly 200 miles ago. The car fires
right up and sounds great. With its custom built bed assembly,
flip-up bed floor for component access, extended cabin for extra
room, an extended Brookville top frame and a black Stay-Fast cover
installed well, this is as cool as they get with all the quality
work completed for the next owner to enjoy! Many quality items were
installed when built by its current owner including Super Bell
front axle kit, Wilwood front disc brakes, 8" Ford rear axle with a
3.00 gearing, a Total Performance HD frame, Total Performance
steering box and an Edelbrock carburetor. Its exterior stands tall
with a great set of Kelly Charger radial tires and baby moon style
hubcaps, the paint is in good shape and sure to turn heads, the bed
has a wonderful solid black cover and the convertible top is in
functioning order with little to no wear. The interior is showing
just as well with a great choice of material throughout. The seats
have suede inserts with leather trim all around, the wooden banjo
steering wheel is a great touch and the vintage fan mounted off the
steering column only adds to the personality! A great find for
those who are looking to enjoy a unique and eye-catching ride with
all the work done, call or email us today for a closer look at your
new favorite custom!
