1968 Chevrolet Camaro
If you're the kind of person that enjoys driving and working on a
vintage car, you can't go wrong with a classic Camaro. First
generation F-bodies have huge aftermarket support and everyone who
has even the slightest knowledge of Detroit muscle knows what they
are, giving you instant celebrity status. This restored 1968 Camaro
features a strong 350 V8 bored .030 over and is the perfect car for
a weekend cruise to a show or a sight-seeing trip through the
country side.
Built to be driven and enjoyed, this Camaro has been restored to a
very high standard and is ready to be taken out and shown off by
its proud new owner. It appears that great care was taken to ensure
that all panel gaps were straight and narrow; and the solid body
exhibits correct panel fit with a properly functioning hood, trunk
and doors. On the doors, nice looking chrome GM door handles that
contrast body colored second generation Camaro rear view mirrors
that look right at home and add a unique touch. All of this comes
together with a very nice, newer 2 year old paint job that has only
seen about 800 miles of road time and still looks brand new.
Under the hood of this 68 Camaro you'll find a reliable, 350 cubic
inch V8 bored .030 over with less than 900 miles on the rebuild.
This car was designed to be driven so it's not too radical or
temperamental; it fires up effortlessly, idles nicely, and pulls
like a Camaro should.
The engine is backed by a tough 4-speed manual gearbox that is
topped by the traditional Hurst shifter. The Muncie Transmission is
backed by a rock solid new 12 bolt, posi rear end. Mechanically,
it appears that everything underneath the car was rebuilt during
the restoration. During the restoration a new heavy duty sway arm
was installed. In addition, the car has all new bushings,
U-Joints, and wiring harnesses. The steering has been upgraded to
handle effortlessly with the new tubular A-arm.
Climb inside and you have one of the coolest driving environments
ever created. The black vinyl bucket seat interior has been
completely restored from headliner to carpet and everything is in
good, functioning shape. The seats are firm and show no sign of dry
rot or tearing and the front and rear door panels present as new
featuring correct stainless trim, correct black "Camaro" emblems
and chrome door and window handles. Below the seats, like new black
carpet is protected by black rubber "Camaro" floor mats and
provides a base for a great looking correct center console which is
decorated with chrome trimmed wood applique. Above the console, the
dash pad shows none of the typical sun baking and the lower dash is
full of cool-looking rebuilt gauges with brushed stainless faces.
At the center of the dash, you'll find controls for the car
heater/defroster, and retro style radio. Behind the back seats a
great looking restored trunk which includes spatter paint
