In what is recognized as the "Golden Age" of Trans-Am racing, the
Ford against Chevrolet battles are still regarded as some of the
best racing the series ever saw. The Bud Moore Ford Mustangs were
driven by Parnelli Jones (number 15) and George Follmer (number 16)
and were rewarded with the 1970 Manufacturer's Championship in cars
that closely resemble the looks of this fantastic number 14 Boss
302.
As documented by the accompanying Deluxe Marti Report; this machine
began as a 1970 Boss 302 in Grabber Orange that went to Nelson Ford
Inc. in St. James, Minnesota and was well-equipped from the factory
with features that includes the front and rear spoiler, Sport Slat
rear window shade, faux Shaker hood scoop, Sport Deck rear seat, AM
radio, clock, Deluxe interior, and more. The previously mentioned
items are still part of the platform which has been enhanced in a
professional manner that copies the 1970 Trans-Am race cars, and
can now be used on the street or taken to the track.
There have been multiple structural improvements on this no-rust,
solid chassis example. The suspension has been heavily modified,
four-wheel disc brakes have been fitted, wheel wells flared, Koni
shocks, rear sway bar, Panhard bar, and a Ford nine-inch rear end
puts the power to the ground. The Mustang runs with the Boss 302
V-8 engine with Cross-Boss Autolite intake manifold, and a
four-speed manual transmission. Other additions include magnesium
Minilite wheels, racing lap belts, Accel dual-point, distributor,
Nardi steering wheel, auxiliary gauges, onboard fire extinguisher,
and trunk-mounted battery.
Looking good from every angle, the Boss 302 from 1970 was known for
its special performance from the factory. This one is set up to
offer you the opportunity to create visions of speed in a
Trans-Am-style Mustang that has its roots in a real Grabber Orange
Boss 302 - enjoy the journey.
