Chevrolet launched the newC4in 1984. Within months they were on
the track dominating the competition inSCCARacing. The series of
10 races ran at tracks around the country where pro and amateur
drivers raced against each other in identically prepared Corvettes.
The cars were stock production line cars that were equipped with
matched engines and theZ51performance suspension package. The
only modifications were safety equipment like Roll Cages, Racing
Seats, Safety Harnesses and Fire Suppression.

For 1988, Chevrolet built 56 identical cars, of these 46 were
actually raced, and only 22 participated in all 10 races. Today, it
is believed only about 35 remain as several were destroyed during
the season and GM took back 12 for engineering analysis and
ultimately had them destroyed.

This car, #80 has been well preserved since being retired from
racing and shown and displayed at numerous Corvette Shows
throughout the country, from NCRS Meets, Corvettes at Carlisle
Challenge Car Reunions and Bloomington Gold.
