September of 1963, the 911 has been the heart of the Porsche brand.
In the five decades since its introduction more than 820,000
Porsche 911s have been produced making it one of the most
successful sports cars in the world. Ferry Porsche best described
its unique qualities: "The 911 is the only car you could drive on
an African safari or at Le Mans, to the theater or through New York
City traffic." Ten years after its premiere, the engineers at
Porsche gave the 911 its first thorough makeover. The new 930 was
produced from 1973 to 1989, longer than any other 911 generation.
For the 1978 model year, Porsche revised the 930 with a larger
3.3-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine with an intercooler that
produced 300 hp. It offered a factory declared top-speed of 171
miles per hour. It is equipped with a three-point harness and
four-speed manual transmission. In order to fit the intercooler a
newly designed "tea-tray" tail replaced the earlier whale tail.
Porsche dropped the "Carrera" nomenclature for the North American
markets and simply call it the Porsche Turbo worldwide. The larger
engine helped reduce some of the turbo lag inherent in the earlier
version." Presented is a very desirable and collectible 1988
Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet that has been maintained in exceptional
condition. It is a two-owner car that has no prior body damage or
rust and is offered with a clean Carfax. The paint is in excellent
condition although a paint meter does indicate that some panels
have been repainted. The Porsche is finished in an attractive shade
of Grand Prix White. The navy top has been newly installed and the
front seats have been recovered in the correct blue leather by an
award-winning shop in Southern California. The motor has been
rebuilt by a Porsche dealer with a documented cost of $25,000. The
Porsches tires show minimal wear and are mounted on correct
color-coded factory 8 and 9 by 16-inch factory Fuchs wheels.
Mechanically the car runs and drives as expected. The car has
always resided in Arizona and California and has been maintained in
exceptional rust-free condition. The Porsche Certificate of
Authenticity confirms that the numbers are original and correct. It
presents an exciting opportunity to acquire a no-questions example
of an appreciating Porsche.
