Vehicle Description
Stk. 2299 1979 Toyota FJ43 Land Cruiser FJ43
The original FJ series was contracted to Toyota by the US
Government in the early '50s to support the US military in Japan.
The design concept was based on the original Willys Jeep. These
vehicles were well built and are virtually indestructible. This
FJ43 is quite rare stateside as the extended wheelbase '43' version
was never exported to the US. This FJ43 was only recently brought
to this country from South America. It has received a nice partial
restoration back to original condition. This FJ43 is solid, without
a trace of body/pan rust. The Toyota Olive paint was applied in
2015 and the fiberglass rear shell (refinished in white) appears to
be in very good shape. Overall, the condition of the cab is very
good. Front seats were reupholstered with grey vinyl in 2016 and
new floor mats were installed over sound deadening material. There
is a full set of instruments, a km/hr speedometer and Sony
AM/FM/CD. Rear seating is 'military-style', wherein six additional
passengers face each other. The FJ43 is powered by Toyota's 4.2L
OHV J-code straight six that produces 135bhp and 210 lb/ft of
torque. A wide-ratio 4-speed transmission is linked to a 3-speed
4WD transfer case with manual locking front hubs. It has Toyota's
conventional off-road elliptical leaf spring suspension - 6 front
leafs and 6+2 rear leafs. This rare FJ43 is very much the same
vehicle that left of the Toyota plant in 1979. It will not be
around long. For more information, call 800-650-1055 or visit our
