Vehicle Description
This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is for the lovers of originality. More
than just a fantastically presented original V8 under the hood,
this carries its factory-correct colors with pride. Previous owners
only replaced components as needed (most of the original pieces
also come with the sale, too.) It ensures that everything from the
sleek body, to the acres of chrome, to the porthole hardtop is as
authentic as possible on this icon.
There's nothing more beautiful than Ford's personal coupe in black
and chrome. This is a survivor-grade vehicle, so the
factory-correct Raven Black doesn't have some of the same detailed
shine that some of our other first-gen T-birds do. But instead, its
high degree of originality is why this one gets invited to
exclusive places like the Hilton Head Concours d'Elegance. In fact,
have you checked out the mileage? This one has averaged less than
400 miles annually!!! Plus, with good panel gaps all around and the
optional fender skirts in place, you are always going to turn heads
with its sleek profile. Nice chrome accentuates this '50s icon, and
the exhaust still exits through the rear bumper. Wire wheels and
whitewall tires are the perfect finishing complement to this
package that is the ultimate in lasting classic elegance.
Style and luxury were the true hallmarks of this classic, and
that's why it's a real class act with the top on or off. So while
the porthole hardtop really gives this Thunderbird its iconic
appearance, the car arguably looks even better with it removed.
That's because the factory-correct Flame Red interior is the
perfect addition of color - sort of like a red rose on the lapel of
this black tuxedo. As you can see, all the components are about
retaining a high degree of originality, but there is also a NOS
dash pad that comes with the sale. The moment you sit down, you are
surrounded in individual style with a machine-turned aluminum panel
flows across the dash and onto both doors. This frames many of the
intricate styling touches such as logo embossed side panels and the
red/chrome factory steering wheel. Beyond that you could see the
Ford Thunderbird was getting serious about competing with the
Corvette with its full gauge package, including tachometer and a
large speedometer prominently in the center.
The larger D-code "Thunderbird Special" 312 cubic-inch V8 was a
nice option in '57, and it only gets better when you know this
motor is original to this cool cruiser. Plus, it looks thoroughly
correct with the bright red block, pie dish air topper with factory
decal, and iconic Thunderbird logo valve covers from the factory
dress-up kit. It even has an extra boost of power thanks to a
later-model Holley four-barrel carburetor (the original factory
Holley also comes with the sale.) But don't think this upgrade
makes the V8 ever lose the composure that made the Thunderbird
famous. As a true personal luxury vehicle, the power steering and
Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission makes driving effortless. So
there's nothing stopping you from going out an enjoying this
survivor on the open road.
When you have a surviving icon like this you want all the right
paperwork to back it up, and that's why the sale also comes with
the original window sticker, dealer invoice, owner's manual, and
title documentation. This is a fantastic total package for lovers
of originality. So if you want a great surviving T-bird, you need
to hurry up and grab this impossibly low-mileage classic. Call
