Vehicle Description
The Fireflite was introduced in 1955 as De Soto's flagship model.
It was wider and longer than previous DeSoto models Equipped with a
Hemispherical-headed V8 engine producing 255 hp and PowerFlite
automatic transmission. The transmission was operated by a
Flite-Control lever located on the dashboard. The car was best
known for its long, tapering tail fins, often accentuated by a
two-tone exterior finish. The interior offered bench seating that
could accommodate six passengers. The Fireflite had a 0 to 60 mph
acceleration time of 11 seconds and a top speed of 110 mph. This
nicely restored Desoto features a Hemi V-8 engine and Powerflite
automatic transmission. The paint, chrome trim and upholstery are
faithful to original.
