Although it may not have been the very first Pony Car on the
market, when the Mustang debuted in April 1964, it quickly defined
the segment and became the face of the segment for the next sixty
years. Here we have for you a 1964 Ford Mustang Convertible fully
repainted in brilliant red, complete with a white canvas top.
Inside, the red theme continues with a bit of black and chrome trim
thrown in for good measure. A three-spoke wood-rimmed steering
wheel adds a bit of classic charm. This car is also set up for air
conditioning, although it doesn't blow cold at the moment.
Gone is the original marginally-powered V-8 engine, and in its
place is a modern ATK 302 V-8 crate motor. Backing that 5.0 is a
three-speed automatic transmission that sends power out to an
eight-inch Ford rear end. Inside the engine bay, we also find power
steering and a power brake booster, making this Mustang an easy
cruiser. The modernized theme continues with a set of slotted and
cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. Although the fifteen-inch
GT-style wheels are classic, the 205/65R-15 red-lined rubber they
are wrapped in are from this century.
