This is not your typical 1941 lincoln! This 1941 Lincoln was in one
of the most quintessential movie scenes, in one of the biggest
movies in the history of film! That's right, The Godfather! This
was the car that Sonny Corleone (played by James Caan) was driving
when he was ambushed at the toll booth and was gunned down. There
were three cars involved in that scene. The first car that he
drives up in also known as the "hero" car sold at auction years ago
and is currently owned by Jay Leno. Then there were two so-called
"bullet" cars... this is one of those, and this is the first time
this car has been advertised since 1976! The other bullet car is in
a private collection , sitting in a bit of a dilapidated shed and
is in disrepair. This car is unrestored and of course still shows
all of the holes from the movie. In fact if you look at the scene
when James Caan gets out of the car you can line up the bullet
holes perfectly from the movie to this car. We do have a few things
such as The Godfather movie car license plate that was used at the
auction the car sold at in 1976, we have the car list from the
production designer Dean Tavoularis showing the manifest of all the
movie cars as well as a few other interesting pieces of history.
This car was purchased at Kruse auction in 1976 where there were
several movie cars being sold, and was then put into storage and
hadn't been seen until approximately 2021, where an acquaintance of
that owner who had passed away came to the rescue. We have driven
the car up and down the frontage road and in the parking lot, but
if you have intentions of driving it more significantly than that
you'll probably want to give it a once-over to be sure it's long
trip road ready. Comes with clear title. This is a once in a
lifetime opportunity to own a very significant piece of filmmaking
history!
