The Galaxie XL GT convertible was a part of the “Total Performance” global Ford Motor Company advertising campaign during the 1960s.  Ford’s goal was to win races on Sunday and sell cars on Monday.  Mainstream vehicles like the Galaxie, Fairlane and Falcon were restyled with squared-off aggressive designs to emphasize their new performance chops and tie them back to the Ford cars that were winning races.
