Vehicle Description

This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport 2 Door Coupe (Stock # P10231) is available in our Pleasanton, CA showroom and any inquiries may be directed to us at 925-484-2262 or by email at [email protected] 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport CoupeNew to our Pleasanton showroom is this sensational 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport Rallye Sport 2 Door Coupe with Sequoia Green paint, a Wimbledon White nose stripe that extends through the door, and matching parchment custom bucket seats over black carpet. This Camaro has approximately 75,500 original miles, as it was in storage from 1978-2014 after succumbing to a broken valve, comes with the original Muncie 4 speed trans, upgraded power steering, upgraded 4 wheel disc brakes, console gauge package, deluxe door panels in parchment, and reconditioned original dash gauges. This vehicle is simply beautiful throughout and it must be seen in person to truly appreciate. In 2015 this numbers matching Camaro was treated to a professional frame-off rotisserie restoration in San Diego where it received a professionally installed new one piece floor pan, new trunk pan, inner and outer wheel houses and patch quarter panels. All of the original RS parts, emblems, and interior parts were cleaned, painted, and reinstalled on the car. The Flint motor engine code MS 350/295hp was sent out to Quality Auto Machine in San Diego to be disassembled and inspected. The motor was decked and completely rebuilt. Every attempt was made to preserve the original VIN #s on the engine pad. Though some of these #s have become harder to see, it is still evident that the correct matching VIN #s are still on this original block. The original Rochester sourced carburetor was also rebuilt and most of the major engine components were restored to keep the car as authentic as possible. The original Muncie was sent to Miramar Transmissions in San Diego to be rebuilt.Fresh Off a High Level , Frame-Off RestorationThe Fisher Body Cowl Tag on the driver’s side of the firewall describes the body’s characteristics. This meticulous restoration didn’t overlook restoring the “PBT” stamped on both sides of the firewall by the Fisher Body trim shop inspectors who each applied a“P” (paint), “B” (body metal), and “T” (trim) when the body passed each inspection. If all three letters were present, it was ready to be shipped to Chevrolet. These stenciled letters sometimes come in different colors as they were applied by different inspectors working different shifts. The original drum brake sub-frame was replaced with a disc brake subframe which came out of a donor 1968 SS Camaro. The original BS (3.31) 12bolt Posi rear end was also swapped with a nicer PG (3.36) 12 bolt Posi rear end with disc brakes. This Camaro comes with its Protect-O-Plate: Furnished with all Camaro’s and was a metal plate, similar to a credit card, stamped/imprinted at the assembly plant. The plate contained DNA on the vehicle including standard and optional equipment. The plate allows you to verify the original type of engine, transmission, rear axle, exterior color, and the month the vehicle was produced. The plate was included in the warranty book and was intended to stay with the car, not the owner. When you take the car for dealer service, you presented the Protect-O-Plate to facilitate your dealer experience.Reading the Protect-O-Plate like a book:(A)=1968 Interior colors: K=Parchment/Black (B)=1968 Exterior colors: V V = Sequoia green on top and bottom (C)= VIN # (D)=Carburetor Source; R=Rochester (E)=Engine production code; V=Flint, 20th day of February,MS=350/295 manual trans (F)=Rear axle code; BS=12 bolt Posi (3.31 gear) swapped '68 PG 12 bolt Posi (3.36 gear) (G)=Month of vehicle build; 2=February (1968) (H)=Transmission number; P=Muncie four speed (K)=Radio option; 3=U63 AM Radio (L)=1968 Disc Brake Option(M)=Air Conditioning; blank (N)=1968 Power Window Equipment Option (O)=Power Seat Equipment This Camaro comes with the restorer furnished nicely presented spiral bound document which includes: validation documentation summary (engine block suffix code, engine casting number, cylinder head numbers, intake manifold number, carburetor number, transmission number, and body assembly date), supporting paperwork documentation, ownership history, validation documentation, Vehicle Identification Number, Fisher Body Cowl Tag, Protect-O-Plate, and restoration documentation including photos of the process. In terms of condition, this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport Rallye Sport could almost pass for new with only the slightest of imperfections to be found.
