For Sale: 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in Carey, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Here is a really fine and original presenting example of a Silver Wraith II. Finished in striking 2-tone Silver Sand over Tudor Red with deep red fine lines to the waist-rails. The interior is equally dashing with very light beige Connolly hides with deep red piping and Wilton carpets in the reverse theme. The same deep red and beige theme carries through to the boot. The Silver Wraith II is the long wheel base version of the Silver Shadow II. Easily identified by the same rear window (opera window) and standard fitment Everflex vinyl top, it is 4” longer in the rear door. This provides a noticeable increase in rear passenger space. This particular Wraith II is one of the last Shadow series ever built. With VIN: 41613, she is the 35th last car to run off the Crewe production line of some 35,000 made. That's the last 0.1% built! With a manufacturing date of 12/80 she is one of the very few Shadow/Wraiths that was registered in the USA as a 1981 car. This is a predominantly original example that has been nicely preserved by 2 owners since new. She presents in amazing excellent condition. This was a west coast car (ex Beverly Hills, California) owned by its first owner for 25 years, so it is a “dry” car that has had a private collection/museum environment for most of that time. The second owner, a collector residing overseas, kept the car in California the whole time. As a result, it has been freed from the perils of harsh weather and is very clean underneath and all over. It was, however left to sit for a long time and so when we received the car, we totally recommissioned her bringing all services major and minor up to date. The body on this Wraith II is very straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The car still sports 90% of its original paint, which is really quite amazing given that Rolls-Royce used a single stage paint process that generally did not “go the distance”. To wit, most Rolls-Royces of this era have all been repainted. For this one to be mostly original paint and still remain shiny is a testament to its careful ownership. It could only have been stored in a climate controlled environment when not in use for it to be this nice. When you look down the sides of the car, they are very straight and true. The paint presents beautifully with only minor marks at the base of the "A" pillars (typical lead-wiping joints) and imperfections here and there from use, but consistent with a low-mileage car. Certainly, it needs nothing other than a wax from time to time. The original Everflex top presents well. The interior of this Wraith II looks stunning. The beige and deep red piped Connolly hide leather is smooth and supple. It is in excellent condition with no tears nor fading and super supple and soft – true to its Connolly characteristics. The burr walnut wood throughout the car is stunning. They are also completely original and have not been redone, They are not flawless (not a word you can use flippantly) but in excellent condition with some slight imperfections in the lacquer on the front door cappings and a couple hardly noticeable in the dash. Certainly stunning for a 36 year old Rolls-Royce and by no means in need of redoing. The originality far outweighs the strive for perfection in my opinion. The colour is deep, the grain rich and the finish smooth. The head lining is all original and in fantastic condition still displaying the thick pile of the Broad cloth wool. Likewise, is the leather finish to the dash and top-roll. The contrasting deep red original Wilton wool carpets with beige leather binding are in true "as-new" condition. The boot (trunk) carpet with the same theme is also in great condition - I would describe the boot space to be "like-new". The Silver Wraith II presented here has been fully work-shop inspected and serviced where all work needed carried out.... cont/d. To read full description go to www.park-ward.com
