1966 Pontiac GTO
After originally being offered as an option package on the Tempest LeMans, the GTO became its own model in 1966. The entire body appearance was redesigned at that time to fit in with the "coke bottle" look that became popular in the 60's. The 1966 Pontiac GTO you see here is a nice solid car with a ton of potential. After sitting for sometime the car was just gone through to make sure it is mechanically sound. It would be a great base for a restoration project but could also be driven and enjoyed as is. The car is a highly optioned out car coming from the factory with special ordered air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, a rear window defroster and power antenna. It is coated in a Carrier Blue paint that is faded but the body appears straight with no major rust issues. All of the original stainless and chrome is mounted in place and in fair condition. Original wheel are found throughout with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
The car is running and roars to life with the 389 V8 under the hood. It is a tri power motor and in the recent mechanical work the 3 carburetors were entirely rebuilt. Paired with the motor is an automatic transmission and the stock rear end. Other recent repairs include a new alternator, new brake master cylinder, new air filters, new fuel line and all of the fluids were flushed out and replaced.
The original parchment interior is complete but the upholstery work does have some damage in spots. The original dash components are in place which includes the original wood trim, gauges, bezels, knobs, switches, radio and factory AC vents. The car also has the correct woodgrain steering wheel. Between the front bucket seats you will find the original console with console shifter.
This classic GTO would be a really great restoration project especially when you factory in the desirable 389 tri power motor and all of the factory options.
