Vehicle Description

1967 Shelby GT500 For Sale - Fresh Complete No Expense Spared Rotisserie Restoration LMC is very proud to offer for sale this stunning ’67 Shelby GT 500. The next generation Shelby Mustang was the GT500, and it incorporated Ford’s big block power from its inception.  Upscale, professional and well off, the buyers Shelby and Ford targeted wanted performance at their disposal but also demanded their performance cars be comfortable and reliable daily drivers. The heart and soul of the car was the new big block, a 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor.  This motor featured a 10:1 compression, high lift cam and a pair of 600cfm Holley four-barrels with progressive linkage and vacuum secondary’s on an aluminum medium rise intake manifold.  It was rated at a conservative 355 horsepower but Shelby enthusiasts claim it actually pumped out some 50hp more while generating 420 lb-ft of tire scorching torque.   For 1967 Shelby Mustangs got progressive rate springs that were comfortable on the freeway but stiffened as they were compressed to give good handling.  The 1967 Shelby Mustangs came with the full complement of scoops as well as unique fiberglass hood, nose and rear deck. The 15x7 wheels were standard with the Goodyear Speedway tires. This Mustang on steroids filled the bill perfectly and outsold the 1967 GT350 by nearly two to one.  Over the course of the year 2,048 were built, all in the fastback body style. In 1967 there really was nothing that could surpass the Shelby GT500, it overpowered the competition on the track, back streets and straightaways and was just plain bad-to-the-bone giving free attitude adjustments to anyone and everything that stood in its way. This collector owned Shelby GT500 has undergone a complete no expense spared nut and bolt rotisserie restoration by marque expert. This Shelby, as confirmed by the Shelby Registry, came off the San Jose Assembly Plant having been built on March 22, 1967. The Shelby production completion date was May 15, 1967 just months before a corporate decision to have production shift from Shelby American’s LA facility to Michigan to be closer to the important Ford headquarter control. Originally shipped to the Ford High Performance Dealer of El Paso, Auto Center in El Paso Texas and was purchased new December 13, 1967. The car can be found in the Shelby World Registry on pages 837 and 1015, documenting this Shelby GT500 was outfitted in the beautiful factory Brittany Blue exterior when it left the production line. The Shelby has excellent fit, finish and solid closing doors/hood/trunk lid while the stunning paint has been wet sanded and polished to a stunning finish with fantastic depth and clarity. Along the lower door line are the mandatory clean and crisp White Racing Stripes with the famous GT500 script, while just above on the fender is the prerequisite gold rectangular GT500 Snake emblem. All the stainless and chrome has superb reflection, finish and one can see the great attentions to detail. The desirable factory inboard headlights and functional rear scoops are coveted by collectors.  Heartbeat of the beast is the 428 Police Interceptor engine crammed into this extremely well detailed engine bay which includes all the correct paint dabs, stickers, tags and chalk markings. The famous 428 PI engine that defined this model year was also the only Shelby to be delivered with the factory Dual Quad Carbs. This Shelby is complete with the Vin stamped very desirable factory 4-Speed Manual Transmission sporting the awesome “black cue ball” style shifter. Most would agree this has to be one of the nicest engines aesthetically to gawk at with the Cobra Le Mans ribbed valve covers matching the ribbed oval shaped Cobra air cleaner covering the dual quad carburetor system.. Inside the Black Knitted “Deluxe” interior is restored to like new condition complete with factory “roll bar” with shoulder harnesses. The padded dash is equally impressive with bright clear gauges and factory style brushed aluminum finish, all in as new condition.   Just another example of the absolute high level of restoration. Under close inspection not only does the car show like new on the top but the undercarriage has also not been overlooked either.  It is finished in the the proper factory red oxide primer with body color overspray and has all the correct factory paint dabs, chalk marks, stickers, etc – simply a work of art. Other Shelby features and options include- AM Radio, Clock, PS, PB, Shelby under dash mounted Oil/Amp Gauges, 140 Speedo, 8000 RPM Tach, Extra Cooling Package, Courtesy Light Group, Interior Décor Group, Driver Remote Mirror, Day/Night Rearview Mirror, 1967 only wood rimmed Steering Wheel, Fold-Down Rear Seat, race inspired factory Roll Bar with Harness and Shelby 10-Spoke Wheels with Goodyear Speedway Tires.   Of course these very special Shelby is fully documented in the Shelby American World Registry on pages 837 and 1015, complete with the Marti Report as well as copies of the Shelby American factory sales invoice, production order form and more.  One must always consider the great time and monumentale expense to bring a car to this high level and rarer to even find one  Since completion, the car has only seen test miles and been kept in climate controlled museum like display area.  This is a unique opportunity to purchase a very special Shelby restored to an extremely high level in a very rare and collectible color complete with full documentation.        The advertisement stated ’Carroll Shelby presents The Road Cars…GT350 and GT500 for 1967…zesty performance…the head turning looks are a fringe benefit’.
