For Sale: 1969 Pontiac LeMans in Halton Hills, Ontario

Vehicle Description

1969 Pontiac LeMans For Sale - Extensive Restoration, Automatic Transmission LMC is proud to offer for sale this 1969 Pontiac LeMans The Pontiac GTO was built by the Pontiac Division of GM from 1964 to 1974 as part of the midsize Pontiac Tempest/LeMans lineup. GTO was a muscle car that many consider to have started the trend that had all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing models. By the early 1960s, Pontiac's advertising and marketing approach was heavily based on performance however with GM's ban on factory-sponsored racing then Pontiac's young, visionary management turned its attention to emphasizing street performance. The GTO was the brainchild of that Pontiac team under chief engineer John DeLorean. As for the famous GTO name that was DeLorean's idea inspired by the Ferrari 250 GTO, the successful race car. It is an Italian abbreviation for Gran Turismo Omologato which means officially certified for racing in the grand tourer class. While “The Judge’ was named after a popular catchphrase on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In TV comedy series. For the 1969 model the designers eliminated the front door vent windows, revised the grille and taillight within the bumper assembly, moved the ignition key from the dashboard to the steering column for the new federal locked steering wheel requirement and the gauge faces changed from steel blue to black. In addition, the rear quarter-panel mounted side marker lamps changed from a red lens shaped like the Pontiac "V" crest to one shaped like the broad GTO badge. The most stylish feature of the GTO was the four horizontal headlights looking out from the unique dent-resistant Endura plastic nose, while an extra-cost option was the very desirable hide away headlights that ended with the ‘69 model year. On the street, the muscle car fans affectionately refer to the GTO as the ‘Goat’. This beautiful Pontiac 2-door Sport Coupe began life as a LeMans as it left the Pontiac Michigan Assembly Plant back in late May 1969. It was then delivered on June 3rd to Marvin Starr Pontiac Buick Ltd. Today after a recent extensive restoration/transformation this Lemans now looks like a  Judge and is finished in the eye-searing Carousel Red with the unique judge Yellow/Black side stripes that accent the styling lines. The Carousel Red, which most admirers simply call Orange, has great clarity and depth. The body colored Endura plastic nose is excellent in terms of the fit and condition. Inside the Parchment Bucket Seat interior which was re-sprung during restoration is in excellent condition. The driver has the added convenience of under dash mounted Volts/Oil/Water gauges. As well a Kenwood Audio system provides an alternative to the sound of power coming from the Flowmaster Exhaust. Power comes from a strong built 400 cu in engine with a great sound when you fire it up. It is complete with the distinctive Ram Air Hood Scoops with the stylish Pontiac Hood-mounted Tachometer for easy read. Fully functional cold air delivery, to invigorate the horses. The 3-Speed Turbo Hydra-matic Transmission in the full console hooks up the power to the 15” PMC 5-Spoke Steel wheels with bright chrome rings which are mounted on almost new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires. This fine Pontiac does have the PHS documentation and restoration photos on file. Additional Details: 1969 PONTIAC LEMANS -
