For Sale: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS in Halton Hills, Ontario

Vehicle Description

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS/RS Pace Car Convertible For Sale - Rotisserie Restored LMC is proud to offer for sale this 1969 Camaro SS Convertible Pace Car. Camaro was introduced in 1967 to attack the Mustang success. The first-generation Camaro lasted until this 1969 model year when it again paced the ‘69 Indianapolis 500. For 1969, Camaro had all-new sheet metal except the hood and trunk lid giving the car a substantially sportier look. The grille was redesigned with a heavy "V" cant and deeply inset headlights. New door skins, rear quarter panels, and rear valance panel also gave the car a much lower, wider, more aggressive look. The wheel wells were flattened with sculptured feature lines flowing off towards the rear of the car and rear-slanting simulated air slots ahead of the rear wheel. The front had a full width chrome bumper integrated with the body color grille surround and round parking lights positioned on either side of the license plate. At the rear were wider tail light bezels with triple segment lenses. The interior was updated with square gauges and an optional tachometer. Camaro had two important packages available on any model. The Rally Sport or RS was an appearance package that included hidden headlights with the partially see-through headlight covers, revised taillights with back-up lights under the rear bumper and exterior bright trim on roof and wheel openings. The Super Sport or SS performance package provided the big block V8 engine and chassis upgrades for better handling, special striping, and SS badging. The styling, considered by many Camaro enthusiasts as the ultimate muscle car look and arguably the most popular, would serve for the 1969 model year only. The combination of sexy styling and pavement-pounding big block power proved tremendously popular and makes the ’69 unique. Advertisements assured everyone ‘Camaro isn’t called “The Hugger” for nothing. Its wide stance and nimble wheelbase make for a cat-quick maneuverability’. GM Executives agreed with this passion as this design became the inspiration for the new retro fifth-generation Camaro. This stunning 1969 Camaro SS/RS Pace Car Convertible was built in the Norwood, Ohio plant during the first week of May ’69 making this one of the last of the production run. This Pace Car Edition, complete with the official Indy 500 identification decals, comes wearing the classic factory Code 50 Dover White and trim Code 720 for the Orange Houndstooth Interior. All Camaro Pace Cars were RS/SS optioned convertibles and featured the very desirable and beautiful styling of the concealed/hideaway Rally Sport headlights. Lifting the functional air breathing Cowl Induction Hood reveals the numbers matching Turbo-Fire 350 engine pushing 300HP.  Performance is delivered to the Firestone Wide Ovals raised white letter tires mounted on the ZJ7 Rally Wheels which adds to the stylish competition look.  The Orange Bucket Seats have Black Buttoned Cloth Inserts and sit on the Black carpet. The seats and interior compartment are in excellent overall condition. The full length console is fitted with the ‘horseshoe’ Automatic shifter and the 4-pack Accessory Gauges for Battery, Temperature, Oil and Fuel. The Black/Woodgrain panel Dash frames the 120 mph Speedometer, 7,000rpm Tach, Clock and AM/FM Radio. This Camaro also has Power Steering, Power Brakes, Rear-deck/body contoured Spoiler and Dual Chrome Mirrors. This Camaro presents extremely well inside, outside and underneith. It has benefited from a complete ground up nut and bolt rotisserie restoration with only test miles since completion. Without a doubt, this 1969 Camaro SS Pace Car Convertible is a muscle car in its purest and most attractive form. Chevrolet knew this and unabashedly taunted Ford in print advertisements with such sayings as “a word or two to the competition: you lose”. Today this ’69 Camaro is possibly the most recognized and most sought after Indy Pace Car by muscle car fans and collectors. Additional Details: -
