Vehicle Description
The Dart was originally sold new on December 12 1969 to a gentleman
in St. Paul Minnesota. The original owner had a passion for racing,
and traded in his 1965 Mustang on this Dart Swinger. He Bought the
Dart for the sole purpose of taking it to the drag strip on the
weekends in the summer months. During his time racing, he did a few
aftermarket modifications to make the car go down the strip. These
modifications included installing a new camshaft, racing headers, a
ram air hood, racing gears, and widening the rear wheel wells by
about 3 inches to fit a bigger set of tires in the rear. However,
in the mid 70's, the drag strip that he was so accustomed to
travelling to on the weekends closed. Instead of selling his car,
he stuck it in the corner of his garage and threw a cover over it.
The car remained there until September 23rd of 2013 when the
original owner's son sold the car to a gentleman who worked for the
local dodge dealer, and saw the car pull in one day while he was on
shift. This was the first time the car had been out of the original
family and it had never been touched since the drag strip closed,
but he wanted to have the ability to drive the car, so he
reinstalled most of the factory parts that the original owner had
kept. This included putting new correct size rear tires back on the
rear, reinstalling the original hood, installing a steering column
mounted tach, and putting stock gears back into the rear-end. The
car still has the aftermarket cam-shaft installed, along with the
racing headers and exhaust, with the original cam-shaft and headers
included with the car in the boxes that the aftermarket parts came
in. Along with that, the car also has all of the original
paperwork; that being things like the receipt of delivery, the
window sticker, vehicle trade-in invoice, owners-manual and books,
plus a selection of pictures of the car and the original owner at
the race track in the early 70's when the car was new. Being stored
