For Sale: 1968 AMC AMX in Sidney, New York

Vehicle Description

Very nice, shiny, and presentable 390 Go-Pack Automatic. #5440 Dash Plate. Runs stops shifts steers fine. No leaks and every component works.
PLEASE do yourself a favor and review the comprehensive list of what I have replaced since I acquired it a little over 3 years ago. I was ripped off - your getting a killer deal. If you're an AMC person, you'll clearly see the bucks I threw at this car. Do your research and price this against others 3-4K more and you'll see this is still a better car. Whatever this vehicle needed (or not), I replaced. Just get in and drive. I make 150-200 mile round trips for car shows without issue.
1. Complete (everything) suspension bushing etc. rebuilt front and rear. Also shocks, U-joints extra heavy duty. Trans vacumn modulator. Rear fluid changed as well.
2. Complete new distributor, wires, coil, plugs, etc. Still has points ignition.
3. New 3-core aluminum radiator, thermostat, flush. All belts too.
4. New brake booster, master cylinder, flush.
5. New battery, cables, brake switch (OEM).
6. Heater box, gaskets, cables, expansion valve, hoses.
7. New Legendery Interior - seat covers w/headrests, seat foam, carpet set and floor mat set. New shifter knob. New recliner chrome cover plates. Accessory genuine AMC passenger vanity mirror. Steering wheel perfect. Nice stereo.
8. Rear center bezel strip, new A-M-X lettering and gaskets.
9. Trunk detailed. Splatter paint, new mat, trunk divider. Space Saver spare and tools detailed. Tire holds air perfectly. Never on the ground.
10. New door rubber. Also included billet aluminum braces to join door window regulators. Also included new roof frame to window rubber and rear quarter window rubber.
11. New correct windshield wiper arms and blades. Ditto washer bag, electric pump, lines.
12. Group 15 front chin spoiler - does make car run cooler.
13. New 14x7 chrome Magnum 500's. Redlines are in super shape 225-70/14. Also spare set of redone Magnum 500's with Tri-Spoke Spinners with Cordovan Grand Prix tires. About a dozen extra trim rings - most nice. It's also got Hooker exhaust from stem to stern. Got the car with the exhaust terminated after the mufflers. Had custom tubing fabricated to finish that. 2 1/2 exhaust. New tips.
14. POR-15 white restoration kit for under the hood. It had gotten dirty/beat up with the failed radiator and the leaking, though not bad, master cylinder. Good project for the weekend to bring back to nicer shape and appearance. New can of 1968 AMC spec Caravelle Blue engine block paint also.
15. Brand new car cover in bag.
16. Original bill of sale to first owner, owners manuals, receipts for motor rebuild (with pictures) and trans rebuild, all done by the previous owner, literature and binder for display with AMX brochures and information. OCD with things like correct screw kits, decals, etc. Original look very important.
This vehicle presents very well and the paint shines mostly excellent for an older restoration. There are a few spots where it has gone a little thin. Someone before me had AMC mud flaps on the rear, which I took off, so there is a slight cracking of paint about 1.5 inches square on the drivers side lower quarter. It's been garaged since I've had it and has not progressed. Squeaks and rattles here and there, but it's an honest car. Patina isn't so bad when it still looks this good.
This car is VERY strong. Dyno report in detail is included in documentation in ring binder. It was spun up to 366hp and 432trq. Please don't come here for a test drive and get us killed. From a resting stop she'll pull about 3 or 4 esses in any gear and just about spin the tires off of the rims.
Super color combination and looks downright period correct. Draws big crowds at car shows. Unique and always brings home trophies.
Presented to the best of my ability. Please ask questions if need be. Price is OBO.
