1935 Pierce-Arrow 845 sedan. Pierce-Arrows were stately vehicles
that commanded admiration and respect and had a price tag to match.
Individuals who bought the most elite Pierce-Arrows were those who
were high on the social ladder and cost was not an issue. Powering
this car is a 385 cubic inch inline eight-cylinder engine making
150 horsepower. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by a
three-speed manual transmission. Drivers assist features include
four-wheel vacuum-assisted mechanical drum brakes. The suspension
features a freewheeling solid front axle, a live rear axle with
semi-elliptic leaf springs. The 17-inch original exterior matching
artillery wheels with chrome beauty rings and matching chrome
Pierce 8 hub caps riding on Lester wide whitewall tires, complete
the period look. Mechanical features included synchromesh
transmission, safety glass in all windows and automatic choke. This
example is finished in a brilliant two-tone combination of Maruna
Red and Cliquot Tan. The front and rear chrome bumpers are tight
and finish is exquisite. The hood is in very good condition,
however, one of the latches on the passenger side is broken but
closes securely and there is a two-to-three-inch crack in the
windshield near the middle. The grille is in very good condition as
is the rear luggage carrier, equipped with a piece of period trunk
luggage. The headlamps have period correct lenses and taillights
are in very condition with no hazing or cracks. This Pierce has an
stately appearance with hard-to-find dual mounted spare tires with
matching covers. Inside, this Pierce features a newer, rich leather
upholstery and its front and rear bench seats look great in this
rich oxblood finish. The matching door panels, burgundy carpet and
wood-trimmed dashboard are a continuation of the striking interior
and look fantastic. The burgundy headliner completes the interior
and is in very good condition. The speedometer and fuel gauge are
inoperable but there is an oil temperature gauge mounted under the
dash. The original Pierce-Arrow steering wheel is in very good
condition. The Pierce-Arrow Company launched in 1901 and by the
late 1920s, experienced financial difficulties amid a changing
marketplace. The company merged with Studebaker in 1928 and the
results showed up in improved mechanics and styling. The merger had
its benefits but by 1931, sales were in decline, as was the entire
American luxury automobile market. By 1933, Pierce-Arrow was back
in private hands. The federal government assisted Pierce-Arrow by
purchasing two limousines with bulletproof glass for FBI Director
J. Edgar Hoover. Pierce would go on to build just 875 cars that
year. These cars really incorporated some of the greatest Art Deco
elements into its styling, from the headlights to the bumpers to
the long, decorative hood vents. Examples of similar cars included
Cadillacs, Packards, Lincolns, Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs of
the day. Pierce-Arrow catered to every demand and request, even
keeping special colors on hand for important families and only
using those colors for their vehicles and no others. Most of the
vehicles were custom, including the carpets, luggage, trunks, and
seats.Pierce-Arrows were more than just a custom and exclusive
automobile, they were also known for their quality, reliability,
performance and sophistication!...GET OUT AND DRIVE! This car is
currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current
mileage on the odometer shows 62,620 miles, sold as is with a clear
mileage exempt title. VIN: 238S442 Note: Please see full terms and
