This 1970 Chevrolet Nova SS is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 1970 Nova would mark the last year for the Rat Engined Compact which had become known as the sleeper of all sleepers. Packed under the hood of moms grocery getter was the potent 375 horse 396 which was capable of high 13's right off the showroom floor. With a little tuning, a set of slicks on the back, and a heavy foot 12's were not out of the realm of possibility. This 70 Nova is a great example of what these cars were capable of back then. The engine is 68 375 horse block that had a slight over bore giving it a total displacement of 402 cubic inches which is what the 70 396 was anyways. With all forged internals the bottom end is practically bullet proof and can take anything you throw at it. The new cam is little hotter than the stock one giving it excellent midrange power and an unbelievable lope at idle. The Holley carb sitting on top of the Edelbrock intake finishes off this potent power plant. Handling the power is a real deal B&M TH350 transmission that shifts just hard enough so you know you're in the next gear without breaking your neck. The 12 bolt rear end finishes off a solid well built driveline begging to be taken out and hammered on. The car was painted back to its original fathom blue color which I think was an excellent decision. The interior was redone back to original as well with the bucket seats being extremely comfortable. If you notice on the floor is console mounted shifter an option rarely found in these Nova's but definitely reminds you that you're in a performance machine. If you have been wanting a great American classic that is guaranteed to get thumbs up everywhere you go and the occasional "you wanna runnem" at a stoplight this Nova is for you.
