For Sale at Auction: 1979 Dodge Little Red Express in Owls Head, Maine

Vehicle Description

This 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express has recently undergone a full restoration with low miles since its completion. It features the modified 360 c.i. police engine that gave the model its infamous power and performance, holding on to the last vestiges of the famed muscle car that had been choked by new emissions regulations. The wood siding, chrome accents, flat hood, and square headlights, which distinguish the 1979 model from the previous year's, have all been completely refurbished. The dual chrome exhaust pipes and bright red paint are rakish and exude confidence, and the fat tires, bucket seats, and new oak trim are reminiscent of the apex of the muscle car era. The owner rates the condition of all of its features as excellent, with everything inspected, cleaned, rebuilt, and/or replaced. It is one of only 5,118 made and one of the very few to remain in such pristine condition. It's flashy and fun, and this super-powered pickup is a must-have for any hot rod or muscle car enthusiast. As the fastest U.S. production car in 1978, the Li'l Red Express made quite the impression when it rolled off the line in March of that year. Based on the Dodge D Series, renamed RAM in 1980, this hot rod truck helped establish the basic Dodge truck design that would last until the mid-1990s. A loophole in emissions regulations meant it was originally sold without a catalytic converter, and at only 115 inches, its short wheel base meant this truck was built for speed. The flagship of Dodge's 'Adult Toy' line, the Li'l Red Express could punch out 225 hp and 296 pound-feet of torque. With such power under the hood, this red beast became famous for its engine roar, and for a time the truck was unavailable in several states because of noise pollution regulations. Now is the time to own one of the rarest and most sought-after pickups ever produced.
