1955 Ford Thunderbird Roadster. Restored 1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible finished in '56 Golden Glow Yellow with coordinated removable Colonial White porthole hardtop with new headliner plus beautiful two-tone Yellow and Black Thunderbird interior. 292 v8 engine with 4-barrell rebuilt carburetor plus 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. It has a coil spring front suspension with leaf-sprung live rear axle. This T-Bird was one of 3,151 first year units manufactured. Other unique features of this T-Bird are rear fender skirts, beautiful re-chromed front and rear bumpers, original aluminum valve covers, converted 6 to a modern 12 volt system, new chrome air cleaner, new chrome oil filler cap, new upper and lower steel fan shrouds, new 6-blade heavy-duty fan, new wheel cylinders, new drums and brakes, new front hub and drum, new correct fuel pump, new shift lever, boot and shift knob, new thermostat, mounting kit and water outlet hose, new chrome threshold plates, new rearview and side view mirrors, new ignition wire set, new plugs and distributor cap, new heater motor switch plus new trunk mat and radio antenna. It has 4 correct FoMoCo wire hubcaps with steel-belted wide whitewall tires and chrome doughnut exhaust rings. This '55 T-Bird is a very well-preserved example of the classic American roadster. It has the highly desirable factory porthole windowed hardtop. The restoration was undertaken with an eye to keeping this T-Bird as close to the way it rolled off the assembly line. The body boasts correct panels, gaps and fit with an eye toward originality throughout. This interior is expertly restored and presents extremely well with finishings, gauges, knobs, and controls all in great condition. Ford's Thunderbird was created to act as an answer to Chevrolet Corvette, but rather than becoming a rival of the European sports cars, Ford created a completely new market segment around the Thunderbird - a personal luxury car while still a performance car in its own right.
