Rosner Motorsports is thrilled to present this incredible all original 1948 Chrysler New Yorker Town and Country Woody Convertible. The idea for a beautiful wood body on a luxury sized Chrysler chassis came from David Wallace. Mr. Wallace was the President of Chrysler in the 1940's and was looking for a very upscale, luxury car that would increase showroom traffic. The result is the spectacular Town & country. The Town & Country was based on the popular Chrysler New Yorker underpinnings.
The wood body is highlighted by distinctive mahogany side panels framed in structural ash. During a three year production run, only 8,348 such cars were ever produced. Production was labor intensive and utilized the only finest materials available. This resulted in an elegant, expensive, motor vehicle that became a symbol of wealth and prosperity.
Our specific example of the Town & Country is powered by its original 324 cubic inch, straight eight cylinder ""Spitfire"" engine. Power is transmitted through Chrysler's patented"" Fluid Drive"" semi-automatic transmission.
Finished in the very classy Dove Gray and accented by the ash and mahogany wood panels, the exterior of this classic shows as original and is very nice! The interior features its original Broadmoor cord cloth seats with Burgundy leather trim and a color matched and chrome dash with all original instruments. Additional features include dual spotlights and a power top with correct boot.
