All one needs to do is lift the steel hood on this fully restored Ford F 1 to know that 60 years ago they made sturdy workhorses that tradespeople were able to rely on. An older frame-off restoration combines great cosmetics with mechanical reliability.
Fully Restored
This truck was fully restored about 2,000 miles ago:
o Dependable 6 cylinder engine;
o Manual 4-speed transmission with “granny gear”;
o Complete repaint in Forest Green;
o New interior;
o New wood floor in pickup bed; and
o Like-new radial tires.

• Paint and Body
The re-paint of this F 1 makes it look almost as nice it did when the car hit the Ford dealership in 1951 albeit the doors appear to have been repainted separately. The very attractive Forest Green makes this truck one that is sure to stand out at a car event or at your local Home Depot.
All of the windows are in good condition and operate correctly.
The body of the truck is free of any rust issues, and an examination of the underside shows it to be similarly clean of corrosion.
• Interior
The tan interior looks like new, and as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips, holes or separations.
The tan headliner is in great condition and the painted dash and doors’ interior are in excellent condition.
The gauges all appear to work properly as do the lights and horn. The speedometer and turn signals likewise work properly, but the wipers are in need of attention.
• Engine
The Ford in-line 6 cylinder engine starts right up and runs smoothly. It provides all the power this vehicle will ever need.
• Transmission
The manual, transmission has the floor-mounted shifter with 4 forward speeds (one is a “granny gear”). These were non-synchromesh units, and it shifts properly
• Brakes
The brakes on the F 1 work properly.
A Great Example of one of Ford’s Post-war Pickups
There is one word that can describe this restored Ford F 1 pickup: WOW! Most of these workhorses were put out to pasture long ago, so this restored example is something of a rarity.
