Vehicle Description
Very nice older restoration to a very original, low mileage
example! All numbers matching and complete with wet weather gear
and full tonneau cover! Recently fitted with brand new polished,
stainless steel exhaust system and brand new US Royal tires!
Superb runner and excellent driver quality candidate! Introduced
in 1953 as the final variant in the T-Series, the TF Midget was
essentially a modernized TD with fender-integrated headlights and a
new waterfalling grille hiding an improved radiator. The car came
standard with the Mark II XPAG motor displacing 1250cc and fed
through dual SU carburetors. Compression was 8.1:1 and horsepower
was up to 57.5! Production including the two prototypes reached
9,602 before the TF was retired in early April of 1955. We are
excited to offer this 1955 MG TF Roadster! The car has been fully
restored and finished in a beautiful shade of Almond Green over Tan
interior with tan canvas soft top and tonneau cover. The car is
powered by its original numbers matching XPAG 1250cc Inline 4 and
twin SU carburetors and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.
Notable features and options on this TF include folding windscreen,
rear-mount spare with cover, turn signals, electric wipers, wind
wings, original banjo steering wheel, dash-mounted rearview mirror,
tinted visor, locking glove box covers, stainless steel exhaust,
front & rear bumperettes, MG door sills, brand new side curtains,
and original octagonal Jaeger instrumentation throughout! The car
rides on painted steel wheels wrapped in brand new US Royal 5.50-15
black wall tires with chrome center caps! The former New England
area owner oversaw the completion of a full frame-off restoration
that was done to a show worthy level approximately 25 years ago.
Finished at that time in period lacquer paint, fitted with
re-chromed bright work, along with fresh upholstery & trim were all
included. As with such time passing and the car's limited road use
on Pennsylvania highways, you will note some wear and patina
today. Similarly, the original running gear was also rebuilt at
that time and continues to start, run, stop and drive like new!
Showing only 57,640 miles on the odometer, we feel this was likely
an original mileage candidate prior to the restoration, but do not
have supporting mileage documentation. Underneath is where it
becomes very clear that the previous owner was an avid MG
enthusiast with a knack for detail. Almost every component from
the wood structuring to brake & fuel lines to suspension & steering
components were replaced for new and remain is very good condition.
Just recently, a fully polished stainless steel exhaust system was
fitted. A true investment-grade TF, this car presents a unique
opportunity to own what many consider to be Morris Garage's finest
T-Series car. We are confident both in the car's mechanical and
cosmetic accolades and no show or twisting backroad should be
contemplated. We would invite anyone interested in owning one of
the finest TFs on the planet to give us a ring with additional
questions. Thanks for looking!
