The GT500 Super Snake was developed on both the drag strip and road course at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Ford Racing and Shelby Automobiles dialed in an even more aggressive package for this example. Shelby American worked their performance engineering magic on this GT500 Super Snake conversion in October of 2011. The 5.4L Supercharged V8 engine now delivers a tire-shredding 800 Horsepower through a 6-Speed Manual Trans. Shelby's performance upgrades include a massive 3.6L Kenne Bell Liquid-Cooled Supercharger, Wilwood Big-Brake Package with Brake Cooling, Super Snake Handling Package, Moser Rear Axle, Re-Engineered Cooling System, Boss 302 Torsen Differential, MGW Short-Shift Kit, Borla Touring Exhaust, Shaker Hood, Grey Stripes Package. This GT500 has been transformed from a respectable sportscar into a devil that only a handful of drivers will appreciate, with unbridled horsepower and in-your-face style with unique fiberglass hood featuring classic Shelby design, Shelby signature Super Snake stripes, Shelby lettering across decklid and Super Snake badges. Super Snakes are a rare sight indeed and finding a very-low miles example in outstanding condition throughout, such as this one, is not an opportunity to let pass by.Handling improvements come courtesy of a Ford Racing suspension with adjustable dampers, stiffer springs, thicker antiroll bars, a front strut tower brace and 20-inch Super Snake wheels wrapped with Pirelli P-Zero tires. Helping to tame the additional power are giant Wilwood calipers with cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. While the onus clearly is on performance, the Super Snake does add a few visual enhancements. Those include an exclusive hood with a larger scoop and vents, striping decals, rear quarter window scoops and a carbon-fiber splitter and side sills. Inside, seat headrests feature embroidered Shelby logos and carbon-fiber gauge faces.Ford Racing's suspension sets the wheel arches just above the polished Alcoas and gives the Super Snake a low, menacing swagger. Even those unfamiliar with the Shelby heritage know they're looking at something extraordinary. They stop and stare at the wire looped hood pins, massive vents on the bulging bonnet, and blocked off quarter windows. Their eyebrows rise at the carbon fiber front splitter and rocker panels.
