It's said that Corvette owners are some of the most meticulous and caring car owners in the world and this example that resided with the same family for 10 years and it shows and still appears as almost showroom new with only 22,272 actual miles! This generation of Corvettes placed remarkable 2001 racing season produced eight victories in ten races, including an overall win in the 24 Hours of Daytona and a one-two finish in the GTS class at Le Mans.
Chevrolet engineered several modifications for the Z06 to use the increase in horse power. Starting with a very structurally rigid body style, the hardtop or FRC, new components included up-rated FE4 suspension, larger wheels and tires, revised gearing ratios, and functional brake cooling ducts. The Z06 is 38 pounds lighter than a standard C5 thanks to weight-saving measures such as a titanium exhaust, thinner glass, lighter wheel, fixed rear radio aerial, and a lighter battery.
Finished in a brilliant Millennium (code 79) Yellow this coupe shows extremely well. The front and rear body matching bumpers fit well and the finish is very good. The front grill is in very good condition, showing only minor signs use. All trim pieces are present and have a nice shadow-line finish. The headlights and taillights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks.
Inside, this Chevrolet features black leather (code 194) front bucket seats which are in excellent condition. The black door panels, carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the striking interior. The weather-stripping is good, with no signs of drying, tearing or shrinkage. All the original equipment gauges are well placed, have correct appearance and working air conditioning. power windows and power locks. The original Corvette designed steering wheel and upgraded Delco/ Bose six speaker AM/FM/CD stereo are in great condition.
This Z06 is equipped with a 385 hp/ 385lb.ft. 5.7 liter LS6 V8 engine. Power is transferred to the wheels by a Borg Warner "M12" six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential with a 3.42:1 final drive and an aftermarket Borla cat-back exhaust system has been added. The driver assist features power steering and power (ABS) brakes. FE4 high-performance race-ready suspension Staggered 10-spoke, gun-metal-gray forged aluminum wheels wearing asymmetrical "F1 SuperCar" tires by Goodyear;The fronts are 265/40ZR-17s; the rears are 295/35ZR-18s.
When Chevrolet gives its already celebrated Corvette an additional 40 horsepower, stiffens the overall chassis platform, enlarges all four disc brakes, and cuts its fighting weight to the very bone, you'd think this exercise in excess would be too hot to handle...but nothing a little nomex can't fix!
