When it comes to Porsches, this one is a bargain. Actually, when it comes to sports cars in general, this one is still a bargain. It is a 1987 944 model with less than 27,000 miles. It is a very clean example, having been well cared for and documented by its three owners. Everything is there; window sticker, compressor, tool kit, and more.
This 944 was sold new in September 1986 at Crestmont Porsche in North Olmstead, Ohio. It still looks fantastic with its Zermatt Silver Metallic paint over the crisp 944 body lines. It still has its factory 15" alloy wheels wearing newer Yokohama tires. Note this example was also equipped with the optional Touring Package.
The engine is the base 2.5L 4-cylinder aluminum OHC setup mated to a 5-speed transmission. Note the last belt service was done in May 2013 (about 3,000 miles ago). The 4-wheel independent suspension and front / rear stabilizer bars make this a great handling car.
The burgundy leather interior is in amazing condition; I've seen 3-year-old cars that aren't this nice. It still has that rich German leather smell too. The 1987 interior design is more refined than that of earlier 944 models and still looks good today with a clean, simple layout. Everything works properly including the automatic climate control, removable sunroof, and Blaupunkt stereo. Note the aftermarket Pioneer CD changer control along with the Valentine One radar detector on the column.
This really is a great example of a 944. Along with the previously mentioned items, it also includes the original owner's manual and a binder of documentation. Combined with the low miles and great condition, it represents a solid Porsche investment.
