Finished in the beautiful and rare color combination of its original 'Calahari Beige Metallic' (color code LA1Y) paint with its original 'Porsche embroidered Brown Fabric' seats interior and purchased with rare factory options including the 5 speed manual transmission, removable large sunroof, desirable late 944 model factory Porsche 'Phone Dial 'alloy wheels, stabilizer bars, protective side moldings, leather steering wheel, automatic speed control and with only 55K original miles!
The 944 was built by Porsche from 1982-91 and was a very successful model for the German automaker. The car was one of the prestigious 'Car & Driver's' 'Ten Best List' cars from 1983-1985 as was the Turbo when introduced in 1986 and in 1984 'Car & Driver' named the car the 'Best Handling Production Car In America'. In mid-1985, the 944 underwent significant changes which included a newly designed dashboard and door panels, an embedded radio antenna, an upgraded alternator (from 90 amp to 115 amp), an increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, a larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, Porsche HiFi sound system. 1985 model year cars incorporating these changes are sometimes referred to as 1985B, 85.5 or 1985½ models and have serial numbers from 45001 and are referred to late model 944's.
This particular late model example serial # 453807 was purchased on 5/31/1985 and was always primarily serviced by its original and long time non-smoking owner at 'Ed Mathieu Imports' of Chicago Heights, IL and still boasts its original owners manual and dealer stamped maintenance booklet. The car was obviously always garaged and has no history of any accidents or damage and has a clean CARFAX report confirming both this history and low mileage.
The original factory 'Calahari Beige Metallic' paint is in exceptional and virtually flawless condition as is the original 'Porsche' inscribed interior and all the options are working as they should including the A/C. The car drives exactly like a well maintained and serviced Porsche should and must be driven to be fully appreciated and seen to be believed!
