There are fewer Jaguars today that can resemble the lines of the successful and timeless design of the XKE series, but the XJS succeeded in the mid 1990’s. This car was once owned by my father and managed to stay under family ownership until MCAC purchased it in February 2016 with less than 86,000 original miles. By 1995 model year, the XJS’s 4.0-litre AJ6 engine became the 4.0-litre AJ16 with coil-on-plug ignition. It uses an aluminum block to reduce weight, and has an optional DOHC head for higher efficiency and power, new engine management systems, magnesium alloy valve covers, revised pistons and other detail changes.. A total of 18,574 total convertibles were produced over 21 years of production, 1996 being the final year of the XJS series.
We rate this car as an exceptional driver for overall comfort and performance. During our inspection, we elected to replace the leather seats, and do a thorough maintenance of the engine. All mechanical systems function properly from the door locks, A/C, top, windows, gauges, antenna, seat controls, radio, etc. The tires and wheels (+spare) are in good condition.
