When the Volvo 122S was introduced in 1956 it bridged the gap between the decidedly old-fashioned PV544 and the boxy 140 series that cemented the design direction of Volvo for generations. Marketed as the Volvo Amazon in Sweden but sold as the 122S everywhere else it ran through 1970 and was one of the last holdouts of European "ponton" styling.This example a 1965 122S has seen only two Atlanta owners since new -- and the first owner took European delivery of the car at the Volvo factory in Gothenburg Sweden. Second enthusiast owner of more than two decades recently passed away and we are selling the car for his widow; the car has been very well maintained and is in excellent mechanical condition and good cosmetic condition. Rebuilt B20 engine with Weber carb. Well tuned and well sorted the car starts runs drives and handles surprisingly well.The body is solid and straight with "nice driver" paint; the rockers and floor pans are original and solid with no known rust. Interior is mostly original and shows some age-appropriate patina but is quite presentable. All in all the car shows as an attractive driver that's well sorted mechanically and offered at an attractive price point.
