Vehicle Description
If you've been watching auction prices of original Shelby Cobras,
you saw a CSX2000 series sell in Scottsdale for $1,320,000 in
January of this year (LINK). Here's an opportunity to own one at a
great price. On rare occasions, we have an opportunity to uncover a
significant piece of car history. This is one of those occasions.
You're looking at one of the first 75 Shelby Cobras ever built - a
CSX2000 street car. This 1962 Shelby is well documented in the
Shelby registry and the owner is more than happy to share the VIN
with qualified buyers. The Shelby Cobra was manufactured in 1962
and was professionally restored in 1997 at the direction of the
current owner. The original equipment 260 C. I. Windsor block V-8
was replaced by a solid lifter 289 C. I., as were most
"slab side" Cobras. Correct Weber carbs and
manifold have been fitted, but the original 4 bbl carb and manifold
will go with the sale. The original aluminum case T10 Borg Warner
transmission and correct Salisbury type rear axle, with outboard
brakes, are still on the car as well as the Girling calipers and
Lucas electrical components. The factory roll bar, under car
exhaust, and chrome hoop front bumper are also original. This car
was built shortly after Carroll Shelby introduced the Cobra and is
identical to the original CSX2001, except for it's color. It has
been well cared for, and currently sits in the air-conditioned
living room of the owner's home. It is driven sparingly, and only
on sunny days. This rare Shelby is no trailer queen, and begs to be
driven. For Shelby Cobra enthusiasts it would be difficult, nearly
impossible, to get better than this! This car is located in the
Pacific Northwest....
