The large white racing stripes from front to back give the car that classic Shelby look. There is a lot that distinguishes the Shelby from your average Mustang, from the forged aluminum dark gunmetal wheels to the quad rear-exit stainless steel exhaust to the GT500 side rocker stripes, and let’s not forget that 662 HP monster living under the hood. With the red metallic paint and the supercharger whine, people will see and hear you coming down the road. The 2013 models have various improvements and differences compared to the GT500 of 2012 including new front end sheet metal along with standard HID headlamps, along with a new LED tail light assembly. The new GT500 also has no grill, due to the massive amount of cooling required for the vehicle. This car is also equipped with the optional SVT Performance package, adding two-mode adjustable Bilstein dampers and a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, a transmission cooler, a nose-mounted differential cooler for the Torsen limited-slip unit, and an air-to-oil engine-oil cooler.
Drivetrain: The Shelby is powered by a 5.8L 32-V V8 supercharged engine which produces 662 hp and 631 lb-ft of torque, with a claimed top speed of 202 miles per hour. In a car that weighs just 3,850 pounds, that amount of power rockets the GT500 from 0-60 in a mere 3.5 seconds and 60-0 in just 101 feet thanks to those massive Brembo brakes. Performance changes for 2013 include twin fuel pumps, larger fuel injectors, a grippier and larger-diameter clutch, a larger fan, a three-row intercooler, a beefed-up Tremec 6060 six-speed with an internal oil pump, and a single-piece carbon-fiber driveshaft. Along with larger Brembo front disc brakes with six-piston calipers, reinforced axle tubes, and aero tweaks to help the car reach 200+mph safely. Ford says the changes have resulted in a 14-percent reduction in drag and a 66-percent increase in front-end downforce. Also new for 2013 is a larger front anti-roll bar and retuned springs. An rpm-adjustable electronic launch-control function is standard, as is four-mode electronic stability control. This car has everything you could possibly want in a comfortable daily driver as well as a formidable track car.
