1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 in San Juan, Capistrano, California

Vehicle Description

Matching Engine Low Production Numbered Marti Report Ford Window Sticker Factory 302 CID V8 4V Engine Desireable Sportsroof 2-Door Not much needs to be said…except for Boss 302!!! In 1970, the Boss 302 stood atop the Trans Am Series Championship pedestal and was the envy of all the competitors. Accompanied by a Marti Report and a factory Ford Window Sticker, this genuine, champion ’70 Mustang Boss 302 Sportsroof 2-door with its shaker hood scoop, features a matching numbered engine (32595), which corresponds to VIN 0F02G132595. Total production for this body style and engine configuration were limited to 2,407 units in 1970, making this Boss 302 very rare and investment quality, according to sources, and one of the reasons enthusiasts flocked to the Boss 302. With only a fraction that were finished in Calypso Coral we consider this car an exceptional investment. The high-output Boss 302 found fame immediately in the SCCA Trans Am road racing series with racers like George Folmer and Parnelli Jones. It was also a rival on the streets to the Chevy Z/28 and Pontiac Trans Am, but Ford found favor with enthusiasts who craved real performance. The aerodynamics and handling of the Boss 302 were patterned directly after Ford’s involvement in motorsports. This documented Boss 302 V8 includes quality performance updates improving the driving experience, including a 5-speed manual transmission, 4-wheel Wilwood power disc brakes, full Global West suspension system out back with adjustable coil overs up front, Total Control power rack and pinon steering, Magnaflow exhaust and upgraded cooling. The factory engine was recently rebuilt using roller rockers, solid lifters, a flat lifter Comp cam, Edlebrock 600 cfm carburetor, electronic ignition to name a few performance parts and components. Receipts for parts and components accompany the car. The factory odometer reads 83,619 miles. Finished in correct and coveted Ford Calypso Coral that is smooth and high-gloss, this Boss remains has been restored to excellent condition and rolls on a set of Vintage Wheel Works 17-inch wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes tires. Many Boss 302’s have been ringing the bell over $100,000 at the auctions. These prices are well substantiated by the appraisal guides; including Hagerty putting a number 2 car at $98,000. Add that this investment quality 302 has a shaker hood and is presented in Calypso Coral and $100,000 is easily justified. Other upgrades include Vintage Air A/C and Bluetooth-enabled stereo with Pioneer speakers and amplifier. The distinctive dash clock was reconditioned in 2015 and now works. Note the chrome A/C vents added to the previously black center dash. A Sun tach is mounted on the column and the original Hurst shifter lever does not hint of the 5-speed underneath. The engine bay is nicely restored and features crisp seams where the orange paint meets black. The aluminum radiator is a nice upgrade and well installed, and the relocated battery keeps things tidy and convenient. The engine is currently fitted with the Accel distributor. The power steering system from Total Control offers great response under throttle and a relaxed feel in cornering. Braking performance is good, and the seating and interior remains near stock. The tach and steering wheel are high-quality aftermarket products. The sports deck rear seat folds open for additional cargo room, the glass is good and so are the weather seals. Included in the sale is a binder full of receipts for both restoration parts and accessories, and aftermarket products, along with other documents attesting to its history. It’s one of the coolest muscle-cars from the Seventies, and it is definitely a stand-out at any car show. All it needs is a new owner who wants to own and drive a genuine champion.
