For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in San Juan, Capistrano, California

Vehicle Description

Occasionally, a customizer comes along and does the unbelievable. This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is proof that dreams do come true. This remarkable custom build, following cues from the original ’65 Shelby was created by Stuart Ruhle of Golden Hammer in San Diego, California. What Ruhle did with a ’65 Fastback is absolutely mind-blowing. Clearly his art was not influenced by a budget. He took a no expense spared approach to build this fine masterpiece. He essentially took yesterday’s famed muscle-car and updated it masterfully using today’s high-tech aftermarket componetry inside and out. It’s now a pro-touring style Fastback that lives life in both the past and present. There isn’t another ’65 Mustang Fastback on the planet this well-planned and executed. A few miles ago, VIN#5R09C161048 sold at Barrett-Jackson for $82,500. What started as a complete tear-down on a rotisserie, transformed into a sight to behold that was documented and detailed from start to finish with books of receipts. Does it get up and go like white lightning? You be the judge! Engine It is powered by a fresh hard-charging ported and polished Ford 289 V8 with aluminum heads that dynos at over 300 horsepower. A short list reveals a Comp cam with hydraulic rollers, Clevite P series rod and main bearings, Edelbrock Performer manifold, MSD Pro-Billet distributor, Holley 600 cfm carb with electic chock, custom headers dumping into dual pipes with Flowmaster mufflers. A touch of polished aluminum and stainless as well as Ford Cobra racing valve covers add to its show-stopping looks. The engine is cradled in a shaved and super sano engine bay that was finished in Shelby’s famous blue and white colors. It features A/C from Vintage Air, power steering, and a new serpentine billet pulley system. Keeping things cool is the job of a custom aluminum radiator and electric fan assembly that is hidden almost completely under a custom made steel cover. Great care was taken to keep the engine bay immaculate, hiding most every wire. Transmission and Rear End The engine is mated to a Richmond manual 6-speed overdrive transmission with 10-spline output shaft and gear ratios of 3.28, 2.13, 1.57, 1.23, 1.00 and 0.76. A Ram Powergrip performance clutch, McLeod steel flywheel, and Lakewood Blowproof bellhousing rounds it out. A Ford Posi-Traction Auburn 3.55 rear end delivers the power to the street. Suspension Here’s where things really get crazy good. The rear is set-up with a EVM Watts Tri-Link suspension system with 2.75-inch axle tubes, Competition style links, Proma-Star adjustable 220-lb spring rate and frame mounted adjustable stabilizer bar. Up front, a Mustang II front end conversion using tubular upper and lower A-arms provides the incredible handling and cornering performance for any situation. As you can see, the new front end keeps the engine bay ultra-clean. Brakes, Wheels and Tires For stopping power, it sports Wilwood’s Dynalite 11-inch vented discs at all four corners. BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires are wrapped around genuine Shelby Cragar wheels. Body and Interior The hood is the first giveway that this ’65 Mustang Fastback is unique. The hood is custom-made out of hand-laid fiberglass and was finished top and bottom. It is an auto-locking hood that releases from inside the car and uses billet EMS hood brackets, totally high-tech. The custom single stage white finish with Ford blue stripe turns heads, as do treatments like the halogen headlights and DynoMat sound proofing throughout to keep things quiet inside. Speaking of interior touches, inside you’ll notice a Flaming River tilt column with electric windows (cleverly hidden as old school window cranks). Nothing but the best JME gauges monitoring speed, fuel, tach, volts, temp and oil fill the dash. Then there’s the geninue leather throughout, custom paneling, hand-stitched embroidery, incredible Infinity sound system and custom original center console. The seats are leather, the headliner is leather, the door panels are leather…Heck!! the entire interior is draped in fine leather. The trunk area is just as masterfully treated. The only thing this ’65 Ford Mustang Fastback Pro-Touring ride needs is a loving home and a garage to put it in. It’s that rare, fast and super clean.
