(Stock # 3709.) 1963 was the year that General Motors stunned the automotive world with the introduction of the fabulous Stingray, brought to be by an unlikely pairing of Bill Mitchell and Zora Arkus-Duntov. Stingrays were offered in coupe or convertible form and with a three engine options, all based on the great new 327 cubic inch V-8 engine. The standard engine produced 300 horsepower, the upgraded one produced 340 horsepower and the top-of-the-line fuel-injected engine produced 360 horsepower (which added almost 10% to the price of the new car. ) Approximately 15% of the new Corvettes were ordered with the powerhouse fuel-injected engine, our car being one. The car was purchased in 1982 with just 24,000 miles, for a Pennsylvania museum collection where it was only used on occasion until being sold in 2013. Following its departure from the museum, the car was sent to a mid-year Corvette specialist where it was gently brought back to life and fully serviced with all records present. The car now drives amazingly well-- very strong and very tight on the road. This is an original, numbers-matching “factory fuelie” in its original Ermine White (body and detachable hard top) with original red interior and black convertible top. It is fitted with a very rare group of options including original Kelsey-Hayes “knock-off” alloy wheels, electric windows, AM-FM radio and both detachable hard top and disappearing convertible top. It was repainted once in its original color when it arrived at the museum and has otherwise simply been cosmetically preserved. The car is accompanied by its original owner’s manual (and another to keep in the car), original and rare 1963 Corvette shop manual, an original locking gas cap and two sets of original GM keys. 26,318 miles. $95,000.
