This attractive 356 is one that looks as though it has been restored in different stages over a lengthy span of time. Nevertheless it is finished very nicely and is a beautiful example of a iconic automobile.
The 356B we offer for sale is one of 1350 356 Coupes that Reutter produced in 1962. This number does not represent the total number of coupes that were produced in 1962 as an additional 2170 Coupes were produced by Karmann for '62.
The paint looks to be a repaint done decades ago as we see some cracking in the paint along the tops of the fenders. Although it was a repaint, it was done in the original and optional/"special color" of Gulf Blue (Color Code L390). The body is solid as is the chassis/frame. The engine is a 1600cc Flat-4.
The interior is finished in an unexpected color to be paired with the Gulf Blue exterior, but the combination is very attractive. A factory original color of Red (Color Code A) can be found in the cozy, driver friendly interior. The upholstery is in excellent condition and is capped off by a beautiful real-wood Nardi steering wheel. Other highlights in the interior are pushbutton Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, VDO Clock and gauges, shifter lock, and locking vent windows. Other options that this 356 left the factory with are side trim strips, Electric Antenna, and an Electric Sunroof.
