For Sale: 1967 Ford Mustang in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

If there's a car more beloved than a bright red Mustang convertible, I can't imagine what it might be. This 1967 Mustang ragtop hits all the right notes, too: V8 power, ice cold A/C, and a traditional color combination that's been on everyone's top-10 list since 1967.

The vivid red paint is a bit brighter than Candyapple Red, but I don't think anyone's going to complain once they've seen how good it looks in person. Professionally repainted fairly recently, it looks fantastic, with a shine that gets peoples' attention and attention to detail that says it was more than just a quick respray. Panel gaps are pretty good all around, which is unusual for the unit-bodied Mustang ragtop, and it's always nice to see one that hasn't been re-badged or striped to resemble something it's not. You can always spot a '67 by the absence of side marker lights, leaving clean, uncluttered sheetmetal that shows off lots of effort and time in the block sanding department. It appears that much of the chrome has been refinished or replaced, and it carries the desirable Exterior Décor Group, which includes the bright surround on the tail panel as well as the rocker molding trim. It really makes a difference.

We believe most of the interior has been replaced, because it looks almost new in every way. There might be some very, very minor wear on the driver's seat, but nobody's picky enough to object. New carpets, fresh door panels, and a color-matched black steering wheel all give it a very crisp feel inside. Big, round gauges were a welcome upgrade in the 1967 Mustangs, and the vents in the center of the dash and underneath are for the A/C system, which is an aftermarket setup that looks pretty darned OEM. A center console works well, especially with automatic cars, which get that cool indicator that lights up at night and "garage door" storage compartment up front. A newer AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit slots neatly into the original radio's spot in the dash, so no cutting was required and it makes cruising a lot more pleasant. Overhead, they replaced the original vinyl top with upscale black canvas, and there's a black vinyl boot to go with it. The trunk is correctly outfitted with a plaid mat and full-sized spare tire and styled steel wheel.

The C-code 289 cubic inch V8 originally carried a 2-barrel carburetor and 200 horsepower, but along the way it's been upgraded to A-code specs with a 4-barrel intake manifold and carburetor. The boost in horsepower is always welcome and it still looks quite correct with an open-element air cleaner and finned valve covers. Ford Blue paint on the block brightens up the all-black engine bay, as do the chrome Monte Carlo bar and strut tower brace, pieces that absolutely make a difference in how the car feels on the road. Power steering is always a smart idea in a V8 Mustang and the C4 3-speed automatic transmission means that anyone can enjoy this Mustang's fun. Long-tube headers feed a recent dual exhaust system with just the right bark to it and with 3.00 gears out back, it never gets tiresome on the highway. Beautiful styled steel wheels are always the best choice on an early Mustang, with these wearing 215/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials.

A pretty car with enough performance to be entertaining, this Mustang will always be on everyone's wish lists. With a reasonable price tag, there's just no reason why you should spend another year without America's favorite pony car. Call today!
