The most notable change was the new fastback rear window. The fixed fastback rear window provided greater aerodynamics and more cargo/storage room behind the seat, not to mention better visibility in the rear of the vehicle. The Interior saw a few upgrades as well. The door panels were redesigned, and an actual glove box was added on the passenger side of the dash, which replaced the map pockets that were in the same position on previous models. The speedometer and the tachometer were redesigned to match the center console gauges that were introduced in 1977. Some new options were available in 1978 as well, power locks, dual rear speakers, power antenna, and a CB radio.
