Vehicle Description
1968 saw the last of the original short-wheel base 911 models which
are highly collectible today. Early 911s in rare colors are even
more desirable. This 1968 911 Karmann Coupe is unique in two ways.
First, it is finished in its original special order Pastel Blue
color. Secondly, is the fact this early 911 was produced by the
Karmann werks and in 1968 only 742 911 coups were produced making
this an extremely rare find. 1968 marked a turning point for the
911 with several changes in design over the previous 65-67
short-wheel base models. These included white lettered gauges,
uncovered headlights with wide chrome trim., side markers and
unique one year only interior appointments to list a few. This
Karmann coupe features a completely original interior and a repaint
of the original Pastel Blue color. The Porsche Certificate of
Authenticity shows this car was completed by the Karmann werks on
August 1, 1968 delivered in Pastel Blue with Black Leatherette
interior. Optional equipment at the time of delivery were:
Instruments in English, bumper horns front and rear, tinted glass
all around, chrome rims (upgraded to factory Fuch alloys), fog
light with white reflector, Blaupunkt Frankfurt US brand radio and
Pirelli tires. Fog lights added after delivery. When I added this
beautiful Karmann Coupe to my collection I had the engine and the
transmission re-built by Joe Vatter, President of German Tech. When
