For Sale: 1969 Plymouth Road Runner in Kentwood, Michigan

Vehicle Description

Perhaps no other car defined Mopar Muscle better than the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. Plymouth's "dare to be different" attitude was exemplified with the road runner which in 1968 they paid $50, 000 dollars to Warner Brothers to use the name and likeness of their iconic Road Runner cartoon character and they spent thousands on the development of the cars signature "beep beep" horn. The design and promotional aspect was fun and fresh, however, the power and performance of these cars were taken very seriously during development as the muscle car wars were at their height of their popularity in 1969. This vehicle went on to be one of the more collectable muscle cars of their era and with many ending up as a project race car or drag car which involved gutting the power-plant and all weight aspects of the vehicle, not many have survived in an original condition.

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this well-restored and highly original example of the 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible for your consideration. This vehicle has been owned by its current for around a decade which has informed us that the reconditioning was done prior to his ownership but even without the receipts or documentation of this process, it's clear to see it was done with quality in mind. Having been featured in Hot Rodding Magazine as well as Car Craft Magazine, it wasn't just us that saw the beauty behind this beast. The engine has been swapped with a powerful 400 V8 big block engine but the owner has provided us with photos of the original 383 V8 engine that is also included in this sale. With what appears to be an original build sheet from Chrysler which certainly shows its age but with enough clarity to read the VIN which matches the car, there is a great deal of nostalgia and with a very powerful document to back it! When reading the build sheet other than the VIN to match the body (which it does) it shows us the following:
Engine: 63 = 383 cid 4 barrel V8 H.P. 335hp
Transmission: 32 = Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission
Axle: 53 = 3.23:1 Rear Axle Ratio
With that showing on the original broadcast sheet and what we are told about this example, it all seems to add up making this a real find for those purists and original car lovers alike! The overall appearance of this vehicle is sharp, the interior and exterior are in amazing shape and not enough can be said for this beautiful find. Call or email us today for more information on this great Road Runner Convertible!
