Vehicle Description
STK 2024 1979 Chevrolet Scottsdale Pickup
In today's world, GM designates a Z-code for most of their performance pick-ups, Z-71, etc. If someone were to create a code for this 1979 Scottsdale, we think it should be ZZ-Top. This truck is a fully restored, seriously modified piece. It is a 2-owner vehicle and the current owner has taken care of it for the last 30 years. The body was beautifully re-finished in 2008 using DuPont Razzleberry with ghost flames on the hood and sides. This unique paint selection transforms the truck. Body accents include a modified grill/headlight set-up, hood scoop, a louvered tailgate and a custom rear end with frenched taillights. All door hardware has been removed and the bed has been tubbed to make room for some very big Hoosier's. A custom hard-shell cover on the bed completes the exterior. The interior has been redone in purple and blue cloth with a full compliment of gauges and an aftermarket stereo. All that said, this truck is about performance. The 454 was enlarged to 505ci (4.25sx4.350b) and blueprinted with a steel crank and external balancing. Only the best components were used including: SRP/JE pistons, FiT rings and GM round port aluminum heads. A Hurbert solid roller cam with 685 lift/286-301 duration is gear driven and opens 2.25/1.94 valves with 1.7 roller rockers. This 750HP motor shakes mother-earth and those wheel-y bars out back are not there just for show. The engine is backed by a modified 400 GM 3-speed Turbo (with Linelock) and 12-bolt Chevelle differential housing Mosher Positraction 4:10 gearing. The "option list" includes: power steering, power disc/drum brakes, power tinted windows and tilt wheel.
